Okay, so the astute reader will notice that the date on the news page is September 14th, but the date of this post is September 23rd. That is because the demo actually released on the 14th, but I didn’t get around to writing about it until now. I guess I got too caught up in the release of my new song and this slipped my mind. Oops.
But anyway, “Afterlife Academy Episode I: For Whom the Bell Tolls” is the first public release by the indie game development team known as Eldritch Ingenuity. The team currently consists of three members: BloodKraken as the team leader and programmer, Darts as the writer, and me, Syndroversion, as the musician.
The game follows a protagonist named Zorul as she struggles through her first days of class at, as the title implies, the Afterlife Academy. As a student at the Afterlife Academy, Zorul will be taught how to properly reap souls of those who die and allow them to move on to the afterlife. However, our protagonist seems to have a knack for being picked on, and must navigate her way through puzzles during class, as well as social obstacles outside of class.
The playable demo which is currently available only covers day one, but the full version of Episode I is planned to contain the first three days of classes.
